Got a TL;DR for that wall of text?
Anyway, warning shots are not a good idea as others have pointed out. Not only is it likely illegal, its adding danger to everybody involved innocent or not, and makes you the aggressor.
If I'm the bad guy and you just took a warning shot in my direction, now YOU are the bad guy too, and I'm probably going to unload my mag in your direction with some justification (self defense).
I cannot have a TL;DR as "TL;DR" is a response to my post (which I did/do read in length).

Sure, I could have simply posted "HRS §703-306 & HRS §703-304" but then everyone that wanted to know the facts would have had to look it up and would have found the same if they had.
And those who had not known what it was, how to look it up or bothered to look it up would be none the wiser.
Same as those who did not read it.
(If you took the time to read it, you would find your comment "If I'm the bad guy and you just took a warning shot in my direction, now YOU are the bad guy too, and I'm probably going to unload my mag in your direction with some justification (self defense)." is incorrect .
My post was in response to the 12 previous posts re: "Use of force for the protection of property" and "Use of force in self-protection" in reference to Lucky Dogs reply to the same vs all others and nothing to do with 3 posts re: "Firing a warning shot" which neither of these statutes mention.
Besides, a "warning shot" is nothing but a negligent discharge IMHO.
