Glock mag wells - how come not compatible w/ OEM 10-round mags? (Read 3594 times)

Makers of Glock mag wells often say they won’t work with OEM Glock 10-round mags - the mags won’t lock in.  Zev, VTAC/Salient, M-squared, KE Arms, Raven Freya, etc all have disclaimers.  Been searching the ‘net all morning but can’t find the reason why, anybody else hear about this or ran into this issue?

Ppl say the oem full-cap and 10-rd mags are the same externally, but something must be different...

The magazine floor plate on most OEM 10 rounders are slightly thicker along its top edge (sides). When using a magwell, this small difference causes 10 rounders to bind up a few mm short of engaging the magazine catch.

If you want to use a magwell on a Glock with OEM 10 round mags, you'll have to replace the floor plate or modify it (chamfer the top side edges to match the geometry of the magwell).

Thank you for the input, I’ve ordered a couple of Glock 3206 standard base plates to see if they’ll work.

The floor plates didn't work, the standard and 10-rd are identical. The difference must be in the mag body dimensions somehow. I’m just going to modify the mag well and be done with it.
