It seems as if spending all that time last session with the legislators and their staff members hasn't really inspired you with great confidence in the motives of our "public servants". 

Its a self sustaining cycle and ultimately determined by votes.  You have to appeal to your district to win an election.  Thats why a lot of republicans switch to democrat to win.  If you are against something the majority wants and vote against it too many times, then the majority wont vote on your bills nor approve funding for your projects.  Then you wont win reelection and be replaced with someone else.

We need a lot of strong and determined candidates with experience to run for office.  This is difficult to do because it takes a long time to develop someone.  Lots of money, long hours, and volunteering.  Also strong supporters who will back them up.  Also everyone to get out and vote, and volunteer to help others to get out.  We dont have that here.

Also to regular people the pay isnt worth the money and hundreds of hours of extra work and stress to campaign for the possibility of being elected.

A bit like that here in parts of Aus at the moment, althought our police are denying theres even an issue, the sudanese ( not racist just fact ) that have come here recently have now had their first generation of kids which grew up a little and now they couldn't care less about the law, home invasions, car jackings, robberies you name it but unlike you guys we can't do squat to protect ourselves, your more likely to get charged defending your home than the perp is doing the crime, firearms are no where near as common or accessable as they are your side of the world, and self defence with a firearm? Forget it.

It's because you and even the UK don't control the media.  Look at the people Tommy Robinson did a story on for rape.  The media there posted the pics of some of the 250 men and labeled them as "Asian".

100% the media can write and spread what they like, and unfortunately the message is anti - self defence and anti - firearms

I will be in Australia most likely within the next couple of months.  I will be interacting with private security, former LE and Aus Military forces.  I am eager to ask questions and get opinions on many topics happening there domestically.

Pack your short shorts, its going to be a killer summer thie year

It's been a pretty hot and humid summer here too.  I'm definitely looking forward to cooler winter weather! 

Where abouts are you in Oz?  I have a few buddies from another gun forum that are from Oz.  Funny blokes.  One used to be a tug captain, but now is some sort of ranch hand.  Another was an 18 yo with a bunch of Enfields.  Another would introduce us to a bunch of Aussie slang.  I think he kept saying something like "Bazza", which I tooks as sort of a "cheers" type greeting or good bye.

I'm down south in Victoria, spend most of my free time up the mountains, kind of like your pacific north west area, that forum sounds like enough gun which used to go by the name of shooting fix a few years ago, i cruise the forums and admin another, bazza was probably short for his name barry hahah

Yeah. I think one of them was an admin on an Oz gun forum. I signed up and posted here and there, but that was like 3-4 years ago.
