California senators will try to block White House judicial nominees for the 9th (Read 2111 times)

Trump just announced the candidates for the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals (our sworn mortal enemy). How many gay Filipinos are conservatives? That's gotta be a very small group. And a son of Korean immigrants. Only one white guy. But the California senators still don't like them! There's no pleasing those people!

These three latest nominees will not likely be on the court soon enough to change the odds of the random draw for the en banc panel for Young, so it's still likely (16:10) to be heavily weighted with the anti-rights judges.

California senators will try to block White House judicial nominees for the 9th Circuit

Sens. Dianne Feinstein and Kamala Harris complained Thursday that they did not sign off on three White House nominees for open California seats on the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals and said they would oppose their confirmation in the Senate.

President Trump announced Wednesday evening he had nominated Assistant U.S. Atty. for the Southern District of California Patrick J. Bumatay, Los Angeles appellate attorney Daniel P. Collins and Los Angeles litigator Kenneth Kiyul Lee for California-based vacancies.
....
Although three California nominees wouldn’t flip the political lean of the largest circuit district in the country, they would increase the conservative presence on a court that has delivered some of Trump’s biggest policy setbacks, including rulings against his travel ban and immigration programs.

If Trump filled all of the current openings in the nine Western states that make up the 9th Circuit, its balance would be 16 Democratic appointees to 13 Republican appointees.

The Senate on Thursday night approved Idaho attorney Ryan Nelson to join the 9th Circuit, bringing the total number of Republican appointees on the circuit to 10.

President Trump announced Wednesday evening he had nominated <fill in any names in the known universe>.

Is there any chance on Earth these Commiefornia dingbats would have supported anyone Trump named?  They oppose Trump for the sake of politics.  Nothing more.

If he'd nominated a mad dog Liberal Socialist with a zealous anti-2A agenda, they'd still oppose the confirmation, because they refuse to agree with Trump on anything for any reason.

And, as I suggested on another thread might be possible, we have lame duck Flake now saying that he will block those nominations with his vote on the Judiciary Committee and vote with the Democrats unless the Senate passes a bill protecting the Mueller investigation. The Senate could override the "no" vote by the committee (does anyone think a Democrat is going to vote "for"?!) on those nominees, but likely won't, especially considering the narrow margin of Republicans in the senate and that includes, of course, RINOs Flake... and Murkowski and Collins, etc.

That's fucked up dude.

The House can't extort the Senate.  The Senate can be a whole lot nastier to the House than the House can dish out.

The Mueller investigation has run its course, and then some.  Keeping it alive simply distracts from the real issues.  So far, not a single indictment involved Russian Collusion.

Hopefully the Senate continues to operate as the GOP did during the Kavanaugh BS allegations -- refusing to let the Dems bully them.
