I've got a couple of Burris Scopes and Fastfire III's, the oldest ones being 4 years, and they all work flawlessly.  It's hard to beat their price as an NRA instructor (50% off MSRP) HOWEVER, none of them are on firearms that I would use to defend my life or the lives of others.....

It is equally useful in securing meat for the table, destroying group enemies on the battlefield, and resisting tyranny. In fact, it is the only means of resisting tyranny, since a citizenry armed with rifles simply cannot be tyrannized."

It makes no sense to buy a quality firearm and skimp on optics or any kind of sight - even irons. It's like having a muscle car with no steering mechanism.
Don't you want confidence in your firearms accuracy? If you rely on it for SD you should have the best quality parts to include your sights. Leave the "looks" for airsofters and cosplayers
Also saw your post in my LPVO thread and I agree.  When I first got into rifles, particularly my Rem 700, I was prepared to spend a bunch of money on the rifle, stock upgrades, etc but then didn't leave much money for ammo and optic.  I ended up spending about 3x on my optic than on my rifle.  Near the final stages of optic selection, I was actually pretty close to getting a NF.

For SD firearms, I also don't skimp on any part.  I mean I'm not getting all Gucci everything, but I def stay away from cheaper stuff.  Quality stock parts are just fine, in fact many times I prefer as I've found that many friends who tinker too much with aftermarket stuff tend to encounter more malfunctions.  Who knows what the manufacturing tolerances are on those parts and just because they are expensive or trendy, doesn't mean they will function properly.  I think tolerance stacking is important in any mechanical tool.  Like how many will see going with "match grade" stuff like barrels and the like end up experiencing more malfunctions.

Or a WML that wasn't locktited on and falls off.

In case I get any flak from people who own said scope brands I went down that same path with Simmons, Burris, and Tasco. Wasted all that money on cheap optics. Again, the "look" wears off when you lose confidence in the scope's ability to track. If you put in 1/4 clicks it should be tangible in feel and on POI. Same thing with irons. Bought a DPMS "national match" upper with "NM" sights. Dead clicks. Frustrating when you are at 600 and your so-called 1/4 min clicks don't do nothing on paper. BTW, there was never a National Match AR or M16. so there is no such thing as national match AR parts.
After I had my irons done by Compass Lake and White Oak I saw what a good sight is and understanding what goes into making a sight or optic repeatable and dependable. A NF rep also chimed in on another board and explained an optics internals. Some scopes are made to have turrets turned consistently and some aren't. That's why certain scopes cost a lot more than others.

I haven't seen that very often, but I've seen many optic mounts come loose or even the cross pin/bolt break.  The mount coming loose can be loctite issue.  I have seen many of the mounting bolt break on a bunch of Sig and Holosun red dots.  I'm not sure if that was something with the quality of the manufacturer or user error, but just something that I noticed.  I've seen many Holosuns hold up really well, with more than a few on training guns of guys that are professionals.

For optics, I tend to want to venture into the higher quality stuff, but was more funds restricted.  I do very much understand available budget and that's different for everyone and their individual priorities.  Everyone should decide what is right or "good enough" for them.  I'm definitely not the type to go high end just because.  What I do notice is that there are so many who want to defend their "good enough" budget optic against the higher end stuff and get butt hurt when reality hits them.  Personally, I do try to find the "great for the money" items, but I do realize that it's often not up to par with some of the more expensive stuff.  I'm good with that, but I'm not going to argue with someone that my Vortex Viper PST FFP is just as good as say a S&B or Premier line of scopes.

Just went to Longs to buy CR2032 for the Romeo5 red dot.  Cost me about $3 per battery.  Taiwan had them for $1 Duracell.  I should have bought a bunch while I was up there.

I’m a true believer that your optic should run more than the rifle especially if your trying to reach out and hit something. Yet if your only at Koko head then carry on something from Walmart should do just fine 😂
Fast is fine , accuracy is final
