Who's belittling who? If you do a casual search for #TMT and #MaunaKea you'll find lots of people calling white people or any other race supporting the TMT as colonizers, imperialists, ignorant scientists, nips, pakes, and the like. I have yet to see people really insult Hawaiians - and that's a narrow definition of "insult". Meaning calling them names in the same context as the TMT supporters. The example from Kaniela Ing is a perfect example of flipping things around and labeling every argument made by supporters as racist or simply throwing down the victim card.
In the wake of protests, TMT supporters weren't blocking highways, they weren't chaining themselves to a cattle guard. No one drove an armed convoy of construction equipment through the protests. So who's the "bully" there?
Even calling Hawaii as a nation in distress is a far cry. No one's getting killed over this. There is no genocide. In fact, the State backed down from constructing the TELESCOPE for now. Protestors win.

In light of global events this doesn't come close to the plight of the Rohingyas, India-Kashmir, crack down on Russian protestors, even whats happening in Hong Kong. Heck, what's distressing is what happened in El Paso and Ohio.
I also find it rather selfish and narcissistic that actors, who by the way have movies coming out, use this as a platform to "educate the world". Did these actors talk to leaders like Ige? Take part in the LEGAL process? I doubt it. First thing they did was get up on Mauna Kea with cameras rolling.

Besides, I think the root cause of all these protests against TMT is money; as I stated before. Sad thing is that all these protestors won't be seeing any of it either way.

there were steps to move forward and it has passed. What we have here is civil disobedience to which the State is complacent to.
Imagine all the anti-2a laws that were passed and none of us complied. We would be in jail by now. And the 2A is a right

Protecting a physical location is a lot different than organizing around an individual right, but I think a lot of otherwise law abiding people do choose to ignore gun laws and become criminals. Their strategy is to avoid media attention and fly under the radar rather than get as much media attention as possible. Maybe there is a lesson there worth exploring?

It's only money.  This is about spiritual beliefs.

Although, if the state had offered that quarter of a million bucks to the protestors, I bet they would have been satisfied and stayed home.
