President Pence
« on: September 26, 2019, 09:49:39 AM »
Given that Trump is being impeached and will shortly be convicted by the Senate and removed from office for asking for an investigation of possible corruption, or whatever else the socialists make up, what can we expect from soon-to-be president Pence? Will he sign on to a ban and compensated confiscation of "assault weapons"? Will he sign a bill to require background checks for ammunition? Will he sign a federal red flag law bill having no due process protections? Will he restore the "kingdom of hawaii"?

I mean during the very short time that he will be president, as we all know that immediately upon being sworn in the socialists will begin impeachment proceedings against Pence (for whatever) in order that he will be removed from office and at long last their dream president, Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi will be sworn in to lead her comrades to glorious victory uber alles!

First order of business is to see if the Senate (or Trump himself) creates a vacancy.  Bill Clinton was convicted by the Senate, but he didn't have the decency (nor the Senate votes) to remove an impeached president from office.

So far, no "high crimes or misdemeanors" have been stated other than "Orange Man Bad."

This impeachment thing is another tantrum by the 2016 losers.  President Mike Pence is a moot discussion until 2024 when he wins the election.

rklapp will rejoice and we'll never hear the end of how "he called it". . .

In all of this nonsense, I continue to hope that as Pelosi calls for digging, that their own skeletons are dug up.  Never ask a question that you're not prepared to hear the answer to. . .

Maybe that's a typo, but, Bill Clinton was NOT "convicted by the Senate". He was impeached by the House on two charges (four were brought). The Senate voted 55-45 NOT guilty on the perjury charge, and 50-50 on the obstruction of justice charge. A Senate trial of impeachment charges requires 2/3 (67 votes) to convict, so it wasn't even close. If charges get to the Senate re Trump, depending on what they are and the supporting evidence, it means 22 Republican senators would have to vote for conviction, along with all the Democrats, to convict. Unless it'll be during his second term when the number of Dem and Rep senators is yet to be determined. If convicted maybe Pence will pardon him so Trump isn't executed for treason as per the plan enunciated by current Republican Presidential hopeful William Weld.

Trump impeached and pence becomes pres.

Pence then chooses trump as his vp.

Pence steps down and trump is pres again. And chooses pence as vp.

Double jeopardy. Cant be impeached twice for same thing.

My mistake.  He was cited for civil Contempt of Court after the Senate vote.  Should have been part of the impeachment.

Quote
Contempt of court citation
In April 1999, about two months after being acquitted by the Senate, Clinton was cited by Federal District Judge Susan Webber Wright for civil contempt of court for his "willful failure" to obey her repeated orders to testify truthfully in the Paula Jones sexual harassment lawsuit. For this citation, Clinton was assessed a $90,000 fine, and the matter was referred to the Arkansas Supreme Court to see if disciplinary action would be appropriate.[32]

Regarding Clinton's January 17, 1998, deposition where he was placed under oath, the judge wrote:

Simply put, the president's deposition testimony regarding whether he had ever been alone with Ms. (Monica) Lewinsky
was intentionally false, and his statements regarding whether he had ever engaged in sexual relations with Ms. Lewinsky
                   likewise were intentionally false ...[32]

On the day before leaving office in January 2001, Clinton, in what amounted to a plea bargain, agreed to a five-year suspension of his Arkansas law license and to pay a $25,000 fine as part of an agreement with the independent counsel Robert Ray to end his investigation without filing any criminal charges for perjury or obstruction of justice.[33][34] Clinton was automatically suspended from the United States Supreme Court bar as a result of his law license suspension. However, as is customary, he was allowed 40 days to appeal an otherwise-automatic disbarment. Clinton resigned from the Supreme Court bar during the 40-day appeals period.[35]

I see a few of us buying tickets to the east coast to join an expedition to clean out the swamp.   Hope various equipment is provided for the festivities.

I am too old to tolerate this sort of crap, if I go out clearing the swamp and decorating some lamp posts, what the hell..............

I would be happy with Pence as president, even prefer him over Trump. So even if they manage to impeach Trump I don't see it making a big deal, we will still have a republican president in place, plus one who would have a better chance at winning in 2020 (in my opinion). So much of the wind behind the democrat sails is anti-Trump fervor. If Trump wasn't running anymore they would have to rework much of their strategy.

I don't think Trump will ever quit, even if he does lose in 2020. He has a good chance of winning reelection because the incumbent has the advantage. I think he'll likely lose the Senate in 2020, there are too many GOP senators up for reelection. Once the Senate goes blue, it will be much easier to get the 2/3 vote. Pence will become the 46th President in 2022.

There is a small chance that the Dems will get the WH and the Congress. At that point, the country will become a socialist hell hole and will be time to drop all our guns into the ocean, allegedly.

Any half decent Republican can do everything that Trump has done, reduce immigration, lower taxes, impose tarrifs (which is a form of tax), promote the pro-life agenda, fix the Middle East one way or the other, fire striking Union workers (wait, that was Reagan). President Pence can do all of these. Just get ready for a string of purity executive orders...

I did my monthly call to my sick 85 yr old Mom this AM.
Normally we don't discuss politics, but she brought it up.
Usually it is a she talks and I listen session when I call.
She likes Carlson and D. Bongino and asked why I hadn't sent
her my copy of M. Levin's latest book as I promised some time ago.
I honestly had forgot to share the book with her.  It is in my bookcase next to
my copy of the "Art of war".
Mom was a stark raving Democrat till Obama care destroyed
her medical insurance.
She asked me what my political leanings are.  I was caught flat footed.
I vote, I write letters, I give public testimony,  I'm a member of the
Republican party, so I can vote in the primary Caucus.
But I've never been asked what I am politically.
My answer to her was a "I'm  a Libertarian, anarchist,
I despise the governments, but love America".
That pretty much puts me at odds with every Hawaiian citizen.
Trump is a bull in a china shop, I hope he destroys the place.
We did not need the shop.  Vast majority
of America loves the "Bull".

Yesterday (September 30, 2019) the Washington Post jumped onboard with this exact scenario... only for real, not as a sarcastic parody of the Democrat insanity... for real for the Democrat insanity.

(As reprinted in the SFGate so you don't have to give Bezos a click: https://www.sfgate.com/opinion/article/President-Pelosi-It-could-happen-14478559.php)

Here is the kicker quote from the article, which shows just how far down the rabbit hole they've gone: "...a Pelosi presidency, however improbable, is not impossible. It reminds us that our faith in representative self-governance may yet be salvaged."

President Pelosi? It could happen.
Robert Atkins and Adam P. Frankel, The Washington Post Published 6:56 am PDT, Monday, September 30, 2019

What happens when a Democratic speaker of the House - third in line to the presidency, according to the Presidential Succession Act of 1947 - is suddenly thrust into the Oval Office, succeeding a Republican president and vice president who resign, embroiled in scandal?

Such a scenario is attracting attention - #PresidentPelosi was trending on social media after last week's announcement of an impeachment inquiry - even though it may seem far-fetched that President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence would be forced from office over abuse of power related to the administration's dealings with Ukraine or other misdeeds.

I am sure Nancy would love that.  Then she can pick Hilary or Dianne to be her VP.

If she won, her nephew who just won would be in line for more politics.

Wonder if a law like "3 degrees of separation" would be good?
