Surefire Customer Service

My second experience with Surefire's customer service and another great experience.

The tailcap switch on a X300U on an AR went bad.  This was the original "ultra" version at I think 500 lumens, or 600 at max.  Sent it back to Surefire and they are sending me out a brand new 1000 lumen version.  I actually suspect that they lost the light that I returned.  I received an email confirmation that they received it around end of Nov.  I forgot about it until early this week.  I emailed them and no response, but then today I got a shipping notice that a new light is on it's way.   ;D

I had already picked up a replacement X300U for the AR, so not sure what I'll be doing with this one.

My previous experience with Surefire was when the lenses on a couple of X300s that I had been using on pistols.  I didn't read the instructions and was using cleaning solvents on the lenses.  Apparently whatever I was using at that time (almost 10 years ago now) ate the seal and the lenses came loose.  The replaced them with new ones.  Of course with a reminder not to use solvents to clean the lenses. . .

WTF?Shane

I cracked the lens on one of my X300s. It was an older 170 lumen model and they repaired it with a newer U-model head. Free upgrade!

Which do you prefer if money was no option, the X300 on rifle or a light with a pressure switch?

I'm leaning toward something that I don't have to run a wire through the handguard.  More humbug.  I saw 1 light that attaches on that has a built in button to it.  It's not designed for use on a pistol like a X300 or TLR1.  Can't remember the name.

Depends on the gun and setup (optic, light, etc).  I still prefer the X300.  I don't mind the wires for the pressure switch, but there's also Scout lights (and similar) that you can operate with regular tail cap.

The Cloud Defensive OWL?

That's the one. I thin Inforce was working on 1 also. Their APL looks cool, but has a higher chance of breaking.  Way more post about inforce stuff breaking than any other brand.  That's why I went with the TLR-1.
