I know I push hard for people to submit testimony.  I also understand some people cannot due to their job or family status or submit for every bill.  But other than that, there is no excuse other than that.

Story time

Months ago I had a guy ask me about CCW. He doesn't submit test.  So I told him when the time comes, I will let him know because they will come at us hard this year. Fast forward to last Friday when the 2 bills are scheduled for hearing.  I sent him the links and instructions.  No reply until he asked about CCW instructors, which I sent him the link for that as well.  He msg me a few days later asking if I knew of any more instructors cause every one is booked solid.  So I also asked if he submitted test.  He said he was too busy.  But yet he had time to contact all the CCW instructors and wait for a reply.  I told him prior it only takes seconds to minutes.  The exception would be setting up a state account for state bills, this could take a few mins.  But once you do that, it takes 30 seconds to just submit "oppose".

His job doesn't get in the way, nor does his family status.  Like his dad isn't Logan or things like that. 

So this is just 1 of a few people I know of who want to reap the benefits that the rest of us take time out of our day to do.  So the message is don't be lazy and then complain later when no one can carry anywhere or other types of anti 2a bills.

It was sad to see only 200 testimonies for the chiefs rules.  Compared to 1500 we got for the mag ban years prior.  The anti 2a side for the chiefs rules had about 10% less than what the pro 2a side had.

Good on you for your activism and enthusiasm.  However, "welcome to the Jungle".  You know me, I'm still active in my own ways.  I do very much see what you're saying and sadly nothing new, both with 2a community and people in general.  I still recommend you be supportive as possible in "spreading 2a" while also pressing for support with your activism. 

One approach is a gentle reminder that folks in the 2a community are more inclined to help folks that are "regulars" in terms of support.  The numbers of CCW instructors is steadily growing, and many will be prioritizing folks that are already active with HDF, HRA, etc.  Most of us do this as a hobby and it takes up quite a bit of time and energy.

One time long ago people put their lives on the line to protect the rights and freedoms we have today.  Tens of thousands of people died.  Tens of thousands more got serious permanent injuries.  People lost everything they owned.  Families were torn apart and didn't see each other for years.  People willingly faced hanging for treachery.

The war of independence and civil wars.

Not sacrificing 10 minutes to retain the rights people died for is I'll just say bad.

Since I do read every testimony, I take mental note of names.  But at the same time, like you mentioned, others do things in their own ways that help the cause that don't involve testimonies.  Which I totally understand.  I also tread lightly or not mention it at all to new gun owners.  Unless they ask about it or why they can't have X product.  I don't want to overwhelm them.

Some folks, for various reasons, also submit testimony under pseugonyms.  One good friend does that due to family and work being uber liberal, so he is sensitive to his name being released in that regard.  I know a handful of folks that do that as well, for other reasons.

I know a guy who googles his name every few months to see what pops up 2a wise. Work is very anti 2a and he does participate on other 2a forums.  I know he wants to submit test too.  Cause he's the first guy to msg me about lawsuits in other states.

When I submit testimony (which I recently did with SB 1230), I submit my full name. 

Why would someone be concerned about submitting their full name for or against any legislation?

They (government) aren't gonna come breaking down my door with torches and pitchforks will they?

Or will they.  This is Hawaii, lol!

So you can see who submitted testimony,  if they are for our against.  What additional comments they put.  And who the person is.

My name as My actual Name plus from Aiea was printed in an article in the paper after one of my online submitted testimonies. 
I still submit under my name cause I support or am against the bill.
Sad I only pretty much testify on 2A bills posted here.

My bad on these two. Clean miss on my part. Don’t even know really what they pertained to.
I thought we already testified on the Chief’s Rules ?

I worked at Boeing for over twenty years and at the Kecks for ten years. if you gave public testimony
on a subject,  that did not match the politics of your managers on that subject,  you were history.  it would not be overt,
so you could not prove it, but it would occur.
Lower raises, less attractive job assignments, re-organizations, et al.
If you have your own business or are are retied then you can say what you want.
Big organizations with very specific Cultures, you have to be careful.

Apologies for flaking. January was a horrible month and I'm racing to catch up with all the expenditures now that work started again.

Gotta remind myself to check the fire missions section every day because I forgot how the hearings are on such short notice.

No worries, you have submitted before and came to gatherings.  My rant was directed to those who give 20 excuses time after time and then want to reap the benefits.  And have no excuse like job, family, etc...Cause I also ask them what prevents them and give examples.  And the reply is always "i forgot, or I was busy".

Just checked all the Fire Missions off the list.  If my family found out I was half assing my defense of 2a they would die of shame.  My anti 2a wife used to try rolling her eyes at me.  These days she appreciates that I'm involved in protecting something I believe in.  Turns out dames, coworkers and family members like it when you have convictions.  Who knew?
