Dashcam: Speeding car crashed
« on: May 30, 2020, 08:24:47 AM »
May 28, 2020-9:22am-H1 westbound Makakilo/Kapolei area
A white Chrysler300 passes me at 92 mph.
90 seconds later it crashes into a road maintenance crew.
A tire and debris is all over the roadway.
A white SUV police vehicle had the airbag deployed and the cop was sitting under the airbag.
The white Chrysler300 was  off to the side with severe front-end damage.

I'm guessing the Chrysler hit the trailing SUV in the passenger side rear quarter and spun it out.  SUV appears to be missing the rear tire.

I think you're right.
Maybe the Chrysler was rushing to Costco to get toilet paper.

I don't think there was a serious injury though. It was not on the news anywhere.

Any chance that "speed, alcohol or drugs" were factors in the crash?

Not too long ago, a road crew truck was rear-ended by two speeding cars on H-1.  The cars burst into flames.  Four people died, 2 injured.

Speed?  yeah maybe a little

I actually saw the incident but I was so far away the camera could not really see it.
BTW I was doing 60mph on cruise control so that is how I calculated the speed of the chrysler. .....92 MPH

When you're going that fast and passing everybody, then wind up crashing into a Cop of all people, you're guaranteed that your day has just turned to crap.

Old memories.

Back before that area was so developed, like in late 1967, that stretch of road was great for top end trial runs on motorcycles.   Almost no traffic most of the time.   Twasn't H1 back then.

And no cops that we saw.  Guess they stayed in the city other than a few working leeward side.

WTF?Shane

I live nearby and hear cars and bikes zooming by all the time.
