Military base - vehicle paperwork
« on: July 27, 2020, 10:47:56 PM »
I’m going to bellows to play paintball for a get together for a coworker that is leaving to join the airforce reserve full time

The Pball Field is sponsoring our group and putting us on the visitors list

The registration, insurance and safety check are current.  The only thing is the ownership is still under the prior owner since covid has made things a little more difficult to do.

Will they allow me on to the base if the vehicle is not owned by me?

I do have a bill of sale and a copy of the check.

I think the mp’s only check that the registration, insurance and safety are current...I don’t think they really look at the name on the paperwork.

The prior owner paid for the ownership and registration. I paid for the insurance and safety check

You can drive on base with anyone's car. Just gotta be current...

I can’t speak about other bases but bellows only looks at your i.d. and then checks the guest list to see that you’re on it.

It's been awhile since I had to go onto a base, but wasn't there talk of a change so the base didn't even look at vehicle paperwork?  Unless you were getting a window sticker for routine access, they had no justification for doing a vehicle inspection for tags, safety check and insurance.

June 2018 was the last time I’ve been on military property.  Had my kids grad party at Hale Ikena on Shafter.

(At that time, they had stopped allowing non military minors from driving on the property)

They made us go to a small building to get a pass.  Had to give paperwork

The last time I went to Bellows, we all met in the parking lot just before the guard shack.  A few of us went through the process of getting vehicle passes (showing all our paperwork), then everyone carpooled to the bungalow/house (our boss was a retired AF General).

This plan limited the time for getting passes, plus anyone who might have vehicle paperwork issues could park and ride with someone else.  It also helped with parking, since there's not as much parking available right next to the buildings.  If you're going to the picnic shelters, there is more parking, but it gets full on weekends and holidays.

Riding in one car under one vehicle pass might be an option to consider given your personal paperwork situation.

Good idea.  If my vehicle isn’t allowed on property, Ill call my coworker that went to the reserves to pick me up by the parking lot next to the guard shack
Thanks!
