Anyone got any helpful information in attempt to get my concealed weapons permit in Honolulu County?

Tips, advice, work around, your experience/ success getting one, etc?

Apply for it.
Get your rejection letter and at least be a supporting statistic for the next lawsuit.
We had a campaign to apply for CCW permits a few years back.
Wanted to compile rejection letters and statistics.
HPD has told a bunch of us at the window we won’t get it just while submitting application.
Rejection letter is a form letter.

If you get it let us know the secret.

Good Luck and may the Force be with you though.

Or you can be like the dozens that conceal carry with the Ainokea permit. But then that would be illegal and no one on this forum does anything illegal. 🙄

If you use it. Go to jail for long time. Mandatory sentencing. Live but never use soap again. Or at least don’t drop it.
If caught just carrying. Lose all your firearms and any Right to get another one. (I think. Not positive if it’s only a misdemeanor.)
Sykaps and a bunch of characters had/have the Ainokea permit though.

.....
I went back and looked to see when you got here.
You haven't lived here very long.

It is common knowledge in the 2A community  that ccw permits are not issued.

"If you use it", you don't need to tell anybody.
Chances are nobody will ask.

I understand and realize that it is likely a waste of time to apply for a CCW, but I am going to try anyway. Already got everything set up including the written statement/ letter and ready to go except the 2 passport photos. I have an existing PTA appt on the 18th so I'm gonna see if I can ask about the CCW application while I'm there. I'd rather get shot down and have my name on the list than not even try

Dunno about others, but I got my CCW for a couple of states with wide reciprocity.  Don't expect a break through in anything nationwide, but at least somewhat naively thinking it will be a help if there is even the slightest bit of change in the right direction in Hawaii.  That and I have more states where I can carry legally when I travel.   ;D

I've had CCW/CWP licenses in FL, ME, UT and NV.  What I can't do is get a license in my own home state.

Even Utah understands that HI is a "Will Not Issue" state, even though we have a "May Issue" law.  Utah requires that you send in a copy of your home state's license when applying for a non-resident UT license if the state issues licenses.  UT doesn't require a license from Hawaii residents when applying.

At this point, it's going to take a Supreme Court ruling making "exceptional circumstances" an unlawful requirement to exercise a constitutional right, or for the US Congress to pass a national reciprocity law making licenses from any state valid in all states -- just like driver's licenses, marriage licenses, etc.

The reasonable man adapts himself to the world;
the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself.
Therefore, all progress depends on the unreasonable man.
