High FOC on your arrow

These are the first four of Dr. Ed Ashbys arrow structure. I'm experimenting with heavier arrows because some of the pigs I hunt have some pretty thick girth on them. And I ran into a big boy here on Oahu.

1. STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY: OVERALL DURABILITY OF THE ENTIRE SYSTEM. IF ANY COMPONENT FAILS, PENETRATION IS MINIMIZED OR STOPS.

2. Perfect arrow flight: Perfect arrow flight allows maximum energy retention for maximum penetration.

3. Arrow’s Forward of Center (FOC) balance point: With higher FOC percentages: Penetration is increased, accuracy is enhanced, flight is more consistent, and wind-drift is minimized. The first threshold for a substantial increase in penetration is 19% FOC. The higher the FOC the higher the increase of benefit in all these areas.

4. Mechanical Advantage: Or, how steep the angle is on the blade of the broadhead. Narrow and long broadheads with a low angle of attack (High Mechanical Advantage) do more work with less energy expended. Short, steep angled broadheads require more force to penetrate any medium.

Any thoughts. My hunting arrows are 487 grains to begin with. My experimental arrows are 538 grains 19% foc but I damaged a few. They punched through my block that I had to some backing.

I bought a bow and was always interested which is better for boar.  Do arrows kill faster?

Know your equipment, always make sure it's on point, and shot placement. Always helps to have a friend along, I was by my self a few hundred yards from the road with no cell service. I had to let this one walk.

Sorry to your question know what your going after, all are lethal in my estimation. I've drop some where they're standing, had a few run off and had blood trail them. Only one I never found with a bow. Pictures on the other thread bloodhounds.

One more thing, animals jump the string. They duck when they hear you bow go off.
