He's had a very long and prestigious career.  IMDB lists his TV and Movie roles as far back as 1961 -- the same year I was born!

He will be missed.

In 1981 He starred in the movie 'Thief". Why is this notable?
This was the heyday of Jeff Cooper and the "Modern Technique of the Pistol"
The modern technique is widely accepted today as the defacto training standard for self defense and law enforcement training.
Prior to that, police and movie actors used old fashioned, one-hand, point and shoot method.

The director of this film was Michael Mann who hung around Southern California where a new style of pistol shooting was being formed.
This was the formative years of IPSC or "combat pistol" shooting.
Mann enlisted some technical advice from the SOCAL combat shooters for many of his films.
I shot with some of those guys back in the day.

In the movie "Thief" James Cann uses modern techniques.
The pistol he used in that movie was built by Jim Hoag in SOCAL. (Hoag grips!)
It is a custom 1911 long slide conversion with low-mount BoMar sights.

In the movie you will note that he uses the following modern techniques:
1- Weaver stance/ 2 hand grip
2- Quick-peek
3- Slicing the pie
4- Tactical reload
5- Roll-over prone
6- Double-tap/ Mozambique

Well. Sirico was #320 in IMDB's list of 347 celebrities passing in 2022.  James Caan was #344. 

That means there were 23 who died between the two, and 3 after Caan -- so far.

If you need a "close proximity" name to round out the group of three, Larry Storch passed away today at age 99.

He played Corporal Randolph Agarn in the 1960's TV series F Troop.   He also had about a billion other credits to his name.
