This is something that I could never imagine happening to myself.  It did not happen in this country but that does not detract from the sheer insanity or lack of respect for other people in general.

You could argue that him being fired from his job caused it, the law was not strict enough, the culture and its regards for life, him already being a criminal, other personal situations, it was the gun's fault or whatever.  All of which does not discount what happened.  I'm not going to say nothing like this has ever happened in history, it is littered with atrocities.  Whoever things like this effect are impacted in an extreme way.  What could you say to any of the parents?
The current trend in our country would be to say what can we do to prevent this from happening.  New laws and restrictions would be enacted, resentments would rise, arguments and things would not get better.  Unfortunately I would offer that outliers like this can only be taken as is and reflected upon.  Just my 2 cents.
