I watched an event where there were 2 guys about the same age of 50's. 1 guy does cross fit and the other doesn't do any exercise and is fat.
The event consisted of some running in a maze type corridor and shotguns.
After the stage was done the crossfit guy wasn't even breathing hard. Compared to the other guy who was huffing and puffing and all gassed out. Both completed the stage, but had there been a longer one or right away a need to "get back into the fight", the fat guy would be at a huge disadvantage.
In general, being fat isn't good for your health. 1 doesn't have to be in super good shape, but at least decent shape. And time is not an excuse. Go run 1 or 2 miles. 1 mile should take less than 10 mins for the out of shape person (slow jog). For someone who is in shape, they can do it in 8. And if you wanted to go balls to the walls, prob under 7 mins is easy. So then add in 2 miles, that's about 20-25 mins for someone out of shape and in better shape 15 mins. See where I'm going with this for those who use time as an excuse.
