Ford CEO Jim Farley told investors on Wednesday that electric vehicles would likely continue to be more expensive than their gas-powered counterparts until after 2030 at the earliest, Reuters reported.

While some industry analysts have predicted costs could come down as soon as 2025, Farley has taken a more conservative approach and estimates that at least two more generations of EV technology — likely to enter production late in the current decade — for labor and production costs to decline far enough for EVs and gas-powered cars to reach price parity, according to Reuters. Ford lost just over $60,000 on each electric vehicle it sold in the first three months of 2023, in part due to the high fixed costs of vehicle production.

So my friend in NV bought an ID4 that had a good charging network (not VW, but some 3rd party type). That network though is crap. he was lied to by the salesman.  The Tesla net work is the place to be.  He learned this the hard way. He's looking into buying a Telsa now.

It's a lot more complicated than simply finding a charging station that's compatible.  Recently, CA was having such a problem with electric power meeting demand, they asked ev owners to refrain from charging their cars.

So, even IF you find a location, there's no guarantee the power companies can handle the electricity demand of more and more EV owners.

This is the problem that climate change people are not addressing.  Until charging stations are like gas stations and it only takes 5 mins to fully charge your car, an EV is not a feasible substitute for ICE.  We are getting closer though, but still a ways off.  IMO, Tesla is leading the way.  Their network is amazing and easy to find.  Compared to other 3rd party brands.  Like if you own a Tesla and use the GPS for a road trip, it maps your route and tells you were to stop and for how long to find a Tesla brand charger.  no other company installed their brand of chargers.  Like you don't see a Toyota charging station, VW, Honda, Ford, etc...Elon new this was 1 key to selling his cars.

Also some Townhome HOA's are giving new EV owners grief about installing charging outlets in their own townhome garages.

Because of the shared walls and common areas, the HOA is telling you what you can and cannot do.  This is nothing new but now adding EV charging outlets can be added to the growing headaches of dealing with the HOA.

Hee Hee, Ha Ha, and Hoo Hoo.  It gets crazier everyday in everyway.  Pretty soon those new EV owners will go Boo Hoo.....

IDK how much juice flows in these, but for a Tesla, if you plug your car into the standard wall jack, you get about 1% charge per hour or 3 miles. Compared to commercial chargers (not fast chargers), you get about 21 miles per hour or 7%.

That would mean random people come to your home to charge.  I wouldn't do that.

If I understand correctly that is if you use 110v. Ideally you want a 220v outlet installed.

Is it monitored by a computer? Lithium ion batteries do have ways of charging to improve life. They should not be drained very deeply for example. When used properly they are supposed to give you about 1000 full charges.
