would replace them in their business.
It is now starting to happen.
Democrats have a problem
They are the ones that are going to be replaced.
The concept of a "Service society" is bull shit.
You need to produce something tangible.

My concern is,  what do we do with all our idiots?

As you may remember me saying several times, I was assigned to the 552d AWAC Division (or Wing, depending on the timeframe) in the Mission Support Deputate (the name given to the Deputy Commander for Mission Support's unit).  One of the Boeing and other contractor's initiatives was an AI prototype to assist weapons and surveillance mission crew positions during AWACS operations.

The software was ahead of its time (mid 80s) but the amount of data necessary to store all the "knowledge" the software used to make decisions was massive, and the computers at the time were too slow to provide decisions or assessments fast enough to be useful.

The tests were interesting, but the results unimpressive.  I helped the testing efforts for about 3 months, and what we saw was something that needed much more processing power than existed then.

The AWACS E-3 back then was running with the equivalent memory capacity of 11 commodore 64s running in parallel, and the storage was 9 track mag tape and three magnetic drums.

It was a big deal when the E-3s were retrofitted with DAT tape drives.  Mission crews no longer needed 2-3 people to carry the 5 cases of 9 tape reels for live missions.  The poor crews who were chosen to BETA test a new release had to carry twice that -- the new and the current in case the new had too many problems to continue operations with it.

Anyway, the technology today offers massive opportunities to achieve miraculous advances in all kinds of computer-assisted solutions. That includes the Internet, which represents the largest collection of information humans have ever had access to.

Too bad the first thing that normally happens with new tech is the early adopters tend to find ways to make money in the porn industry with it.  Beta, VHS, video tape recording equipment, Laser Discs, CD, DVD, BluRay, Internet sites, streaming services, interactive chat, ...   it all became mainstream tech in part to the proliferation of that tech to support porn creation and consumption.

There are already reports of companies working on sex-bots and VR that's reminiscent of the "sex" scene in Demolition Man using AI.

I don't recall the Virtual sex scene in "Demolition man" but seeing the government guy get his due was great.
