On the presumption our enemies peruse this site
This is informative and based on France Gun control
https://gunviolence.news/2023-07-13-french-rioting-gun-control-laws-fail-citizens.html

and USA studies
https://americafirstreport.com/study-proves-there-is-no-correlation-between-gun-control-laws-and-mass-murders/

I don't expect Hawaii to relax it's gun laws as they are all elected by idiots.
but y'all may be able to slow them down some.
I no longer vote in Hawaii.  WA state isn't much better, but they
at least have some responsible opposition.

Scientifically, when you have a hypothesis, you first try to replicate that finding (run an experiment, look for similar/identical results in other cases, etc.).

Then, you look for cases that contradict your hypothesis -- i.e. look for evidence that disproves it.

When it comes to gun laws, there have been many studies that concluded gun laws have little to no effect on gun-related crime.  More specifically, states like Hawaii which tout a low level of gun violence due to our strict gun laws have been contradicted, because other states with much more lenient gun laws have the same or better gun crime rates.

Are these exceptions to the "rule?"  The number of locations with Constitutional Carry, no permits to acquire, no handgun or long gun registration and no state-level background checks which also have low gun crime rates are many.

Evidence proves laws do nothing to stop crime -- gun crimes in particular.  In Australia, after the massacre that prompted a nationwide confiscation/gun buy-back, there were more people charged with gun crimes than before.  Most of those arrests were for violating the new ban/restrictions.  All the law did was create criminals of the thousands of law abiding owners who opted out of a ban.  Gun violence before and after the ban remained the same.  The massacre was the exception -- a spike on the graph that no law would have prevented.

See?  It works!

Headline from CNN:

States with weaker gun laws have
higher rates of firearm related
homicides and suicides, study finds

Quote
A study published in January by a leading non-profit organization that focuses
on gun violence prevention found that there is a direct correlation in states with
weaker gun laws and higher rates of gun deaths, including homicides, suicides
and accidental killings.
https://www.cnn.com/2022/01/20/us/everytown-weak-gun-laws-high-gun-deaths-study/index.html

I noticed Everytown touched on a few states with strong anti-gun laws and low death rates from guns.  What I notice is CA, one of their glowing examples of big gun control and small death rates, has the largest population which leads to a skewed ratio of deaths.  CA also has the most mass shootings of any state.  No mention of how gun laws correlate with that.

Also they stayed away from Maryland, which shows among the top in strong gun laws in the one map, and also shows near the top in rate of gun deaths.  Smaller population than CA and NY, so less able to mask the violence behind one very large number.

Notice in the headline, they used "have" rather than "shows", "demonstrates", or "causes".  And in the first line, they stated "direct correlation" rather than "cause", "effect" or anything else that states an impact on gun deaths caused by strict laws.

The article is written in true agenda-driven, biased fashion.  State the facts in a way that leaves the interpretation of the study up to the reader.

It takes critical thinking skills to navigate the journalism of today.  Too bad parroting talking points is so much easier.
