Wow. So whats the point of doing an investigation, esp on trump if the end goal wasnt to find something to convict him?

Cop smells weed odor coming from the car

Cop:

Sir, i smell weed and i just will search ur car. Im not investigating to try to get u convicted, i just want u to know, that i know u have weed in the car. U are free to go. Even if i find said weed.

Driver:

Sounds good. Go ahead and search.

What is the point of fire fighters going to calls of smoke? Sometimes you don't know whether something bad happened so you investigate. If it turns out a crime was committed you try to charge the person. If it turns out no crime was committed then you close the case. If a burglar broke into your home and you killed him, the cops are still going to investigate without necessarily having a goal of charging you with a crime.

Firefighters don't respond to calls hoping they find a fire.  They respond to smoke reports hoping to prevent a fire from starting or growing.

Democrats, however, are fanning the smoke hoping one creates enough heat to get Trump excluded from future races/office.

if the Dems were actually investigating instead of throwing the kitchen sink at the wall hoping something sticks, you'd have a point.  They don't investigate.  They have hearings and vote for impeachment.  The first time they tried is evidence they don't give a crap about the truth -- only political attacks.

Go back and watch the House's first impeachment hearings before they voted to impeach.  Name another impeachment that included no alleged criminal violations by the president.

According to some highly experienced legal professionals (such as Alan Dershowitz), Trump has a reasonably good chance of being convicted of something -- even if it's miles away from insurrection incitement.  if he is ever convicted, Dershowitz predicts the Supreme Court will overturn the verdict, and Trump will not spend a day in prison.

Makes sense.  The country doesn't need to be ripped apart over a former president being tried for political reasons.  The same thing was in play with Nixon.  Ford pardoned Nixon for the express reason that a trial involving any criminal charges would be polarizing and bad for the country in general.

The lefts strategy is to throw shit at the wall and see what sticks.  Eventually, they will get 1 thing if they toss 1000 things at the wall. And I predict it would be 1 thing that others have done and gotten either a slap on the wrist or a warning/fine.  But for Trump, they will try to get him for the max allowed sentence. He better not jaywalk ever or use a toilet aerosal spray for any purpose other than intended.
