While I'm waiting for my permit (applied August 2nd)
I hear of people waiting along time.
I'm just curious, who had the quickest process?

A few of the guys who took the class with me mid December 2022 got their permits in under 45 days. I had to wait until start of January to submit everything because of some paperwork technicalities. And that delayed me all the way until the end of April. So waiting 15 days longer to apply made my approval time take 80 days longer.

I got mine around the 30 day mark.

Do like I did. Switch your legal residency to WA state and get your permit in a week.
Maybe if I'm busted back here in Hawaii,
We can find out why drivers licenses( a privilege) are honored in every state but
concealed carry( a right) aren't

How was it moving and thinking you're free, but still had to ask master for permission with your CCW?

I got mine around the 30 day mark.

I paid for a background check and the administrative costs. I think is was $45 total for 5 years license.
WA state is "Shall issue".
No permission required.
The only "masters" you have to deal with is cops, that get upset when you open carry,
which doesn't require a permit and that usually resolved pretty easy.
Just be sensible and you won't have problems.
Hawaiians don't have a clue about guns being everywhere, safely.
Y'all weren't taught how to do it.

No connection to HPD, but we were the first to submit under the new rules. So the CCW apps were like only 8 of them under the new rules. HPD did delay by about 2 weeks though as our medical waivers weren't sent out until almost 2 weeks after we applied.

You did need permission since they're not a constitutional carry. And they even made you pay to get your right and to exercise it. So master did u dirty.

Got my letter of approval today.  A little longer than 2 months.  Looks like HPD is speeding up the process.

They did not. Looks like everything was in order.
