As I've only been to Vegas indoor ranges, the ones I've inquired allow IWB or OWB draw and rapid fire without taking a qual or charging extra.  Range702, The Gunstore, Battlefield LV, Strip Gun Club all allow.  IDK about others as I've stopped inquiring after getting the same replies.  Even the Clark County Public range allows this as well (outdoor).  Range 702 you can bring your own ammo. IDK about the others as I never asked.  I had to zero our RDS so I shot our HP ammo and asked if I can bring my own and no problem.

808GC doesn't charge extra for this, but they do watch you if you're not a regular to make sure you're safe.  Well the prior 2 owners/management did, IDK about the current one.

I know friends who live in AZ, UT, and WA and the indoor range they go to (closest to their home) allows as well, you can even bring your own ammo.

I've been to a dozen indoor gun ranges on the mainland and all of them you pay a fee and shoot your own ammo.  One of them an RSO had to certify you to shoot from a holster but did not charge a fee.  Another didn't allow drawing from appendix.  Others didn't care.

I heard an instructor flew in from the mainland to teach NVG class at xring.  He assumed it was like all other ranges and students brought their own ammo.  Xring required the students to buy ammo on the day of the class and the instructor was pissed.

I've been to many ranges on the mainland myself, and none of them ever charged me for using my own ammo -- which I nearly always used.  That experience includes range visits from the 1980s to just a few years ago.  It seems greedy to fine someone for using ammo the customer may want to use up (older stockpile) after buying a new case of the same caliber.  Or, maybe they are selling all their 10mm guns and want to enjoy a last visit to the range with it while making a dent in their 10mm ammo supply.

Many reasons other than "I bought it cheaper" for wanting to use outside ammo.  Sometimes the shooter just has a preference for that specific brand or specs which the range doesn't have available.

Any business who wants to charge the customer for using their own ammo is doing so for only one reason -- greed.  It doesn't increase safety, it doesn't enhance the customers' experience, and it doesn't help anyone comply with any laws.  The only possible benefit of getting your ammo at the range is the convenience of buying your ammo on the spot, but you're being charged $$$ for that convenience.

The gun range I go to, in my backyard, allows me to shoot whatever I like and however I like. Drawing from concealment, shooting from the hip, running from cover to cover, dropping to the ground and no RSOs to deal with.

I'm pretty sure with all the environmental regulations and the costs of doing business, the expenses for an indoor range can add up and be quite expensive.

I appreciate the other members sharing their experiences and costs from other ranges on the mainland which offers a perspective to compare to the handful of ranges we have here on Oahu.

X-Ring has their reasons for their fees but the input of the members on this forum shows it is not the usual norm.  Which is good info for those that wouldn't know.

Now they know.  And now they can make decisions for themselves.
