“I’d like to clear up some of the misinformation about the new firearms law,” said Logan.
The police chief said the application process to acquire a gun is being extended from 14 to 40 days.
Applicants will now need to undergo a mental health evaluation.
Doctors, not HPD, will have to sign off.

absolutely insane for them to be doing this. i wonder if the recent pearl ridge shooting has anything to do with this. seems like theyre coming up with these changes on the fly.

Its in the law that was passed. Of which only 80-140 people testified against it.

Isn’t it still the minimum 14 day waiting period but instead of the max 20 days, it’s getting changed to 40 days? That “14 to 40 days” statement in the news article seems to be misleading.

no permit shall be issued to an applicant earlier than fourteen calendar days after the date of the application; provided that a permit shall be issued or the application denied before the [twentieth] fortieth day from the date of application.
