Did you just bring this bill to our attention and ask for testimony, and now youre gonna tell us this bill isnt important? The guy who is constantly whining about lack of testimony and trying to guilt trip people into participating? unbelievable.
Assault weapon ban bill=super important.

Bill about gun buy backs=not as important.

Do u see the HUGE difference,

Its good to write test for all gun related bills.

If it makes u feel better only 20 people submitted testimony for this bill. So regardless of the level of importance, still no one cares.

Quit complaining about testimony numbers. dont ask people to take time out of their day to learn about bills then submit testimony, and then turn around and dismiss all of their efforts. Keep it up and soon youll literally have "no one" who cares.

Please show where i dismissed all their efforts.

And yes, taking 2 mins out of ones day to read a bill and submit test that isnt too important is such a strain on peoples day.

Compares to the AWB bill that takes much more time to read.

Thanks for playing.

The thing is people treat this bill as anti-2A when it's not.  It was introduced by and voted on by legislators that are against the 2A, there's questionable preparatory language that can be seen as anti 2A, and it leads to the destruction of guns.   But this bill isn't unconstitutional.  For people that are against it it's a minor fiscal issue.

Flip it over and there's around 300 gun owners who used the program and I presume liked it.  Most of them aren't strong 2a supporters but it doesn't really affect me as a gun owner except for the tax money which is why it's a fiscal issue.  But even if you're against the tax money being wasted, it's a small drop in the bucket compared to everything else.

It was more of a psychological warfare campaign than anything. It became obvious the goal was to demoralize activists by making you go to chiefs meetings and beg for your rights. He can’t take your rights away. You can accept the belief that everything is hopeless and choose surrender your rights but that’s different.

All they have to do is change it from voluntary to mandatory. And how do you know 300 gun owners used the program? they did not take names or ask any questions. How many were criminals disposing of illegal firearms? We know for a fact that illegal firearms were turned in.

Show me where someone said "show me where" in this thread:

https://2ahawaii.com/index.php?topic=52475.0

If not, then "literally every thread" is an exaggeration -- one I believe is much bigger than you think.  There are some threads where "some people" fall into a rut and post that over and over, but it's nowhere near "literally every thread".

My mom told me a million times, "Stop exaggerating!"
The reasonable man adapts himself to the world;
the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself.
Therefore, all progress depends on the unreasonable man.

Gun Buy Backs are a Dog and Pony Show.

A Flash in the Pan maneuver that does nothing but give the impression that they are reducing gun violence.

I can't find numbers for people, but I'd assume majority turned in one, and the limit was 3 gift cards per person with no limit on firearms.turned in.  So my swag is 200 to 300 people.  if you can find the actual number I'd like to know it.

Technically most of the people were probably criminals turning in guns.  Since many were unregistered  :D

But for hardcore criminals turning in guns, probably very few if any.  There are lots of ways to disappear guns...just bury it.in the forest or make it corrode into dust.   lots of people seem to have boating accidents on 2ahawaii.

Long guns in possession prior to 1994 need not be registered.  It was not required.  Correct me if I'm wrong.  But if I am correct, why are these people technically criminals for not registering their guns.  Unless you are referring to handguns.

if a pre94 long.gun is inherited after that date, it has to be registered by the new owner.

Though I guess it could be up in the air if it just stayed in a box and the people say they didn't want it.

Thats kind of the point, there is no questions asked and so the data is incomplete. You've assumed that it was mostly gun owners who had legitimate reasons, While the anti-2a lawmakers have assumed that they are all guns that would have been used sold on the black market or used in crimes. Just two sides of the same coin with not enough details to factually say so one way or the other.

Another other way that gun buybacks are anti-2a is that they are used by anti-2a prove their point, even though theres no real data to prove it. the proof of that is in the introduction of this bill right here. "limits the number of firearms entering the black market, and reduces violent crimes, accidental shootings, and the risk of a firearm being brought into a school."

If you say this is not an Anti-2a bill, and that it isnt important, I have to strongly disagree.  :shaka:
