I’ve had it with the jerks who run the club, especially the membership director and his cronies..
Joined April of last year. Was told that 12 hours of volunteer service for the club is required each year. Listed where I could help out which was anything they needed. Over the course of the year I attended the meetings and kept asking them what needed to be done and all I got was the typical “deer in the headlights” look. Suggested they put a page up on their website asking for volunteers to do this and that....SILENCE, totally ignored. Well along came COVID-19 and the ranges were shut down so nothing could be done. Got an email from the president saying that the requirement would be extended until 1 Dec 20 and that dues were due ($40 per year. There is an opt out for volunteer service for $100 but if your late opt out will be $110 plus the $40 membership. Sent my $40 in, got a letter from the membership director stating that he will hold onto my membership card until I complete my hours or pay $110. Wrote 3 letters to him asking what needs to be done...no reply. Wrote the president and got the same response; nothing. Nothing on the website either. Absolutely refuse to be held up by a bunch of highwaymen!
Now I am retired military but aside from that this ”code of silence” needs to be addressed. My take is they like the extra cash in their coffers. I’ve decided to take this up with the CO of Schofield and shake them up. Might hurt the club but at this point I really don’t care and yes I will most definitely play the “retired military” card when I’m able to get an audience with the CO (letter was sent out today). I’ll also drop my membership if nothing is done and demand an immediate refund.

If you look under Newsletters and Minutes in Publications, there are minutes for the monthly meetings Jan, Feb and Mar 2020.  Nothing after.

Some of the minutes actually stated some opportunities to volunteer for the Club:

1. Trap, Skeet & Archery Activity – Check calendar for available shooting days. Anyone needing volunteer hours is encouraged to see the TSA
director for available assignments, such as carpentry, mowing and equipment maintenance/repair. Work day scheduled for March 14 at SR5.
Plan is to do mowing and move targets to clear out the storage container.

The issue is that there have been no minutes, perhaps because there were no monthly meetings, since March.  That's 3 months - going on 5 - of either no meetings and/or no monthly newsletters / minutes.

The club officers need to live up to their part of the bylaws if they want to enforce it on others: Article VI.

I went to SR5 for the work day (which I heard about second hand). Kolekole gate was locked. Waited for an hour and nobody showed up.

Seriously, you should get a minimal amount of credit for showing up, even if the people in charge fail to show.

Couple more things I forgot to mention...
1. Not sure if elections were held...
2.also volunteered to be an RO for the trap range. Asked for info on training, CPR, and any other requirements. Was told they would get back to me. Never happened. I already have my NRA certification for RSO so that requirement, if required, has been met.
I’m done playing games with them...oh well....

I hear ya. I quit about 4-5 years ago because of much of what you mentioned/experienced. There’s a lot of bickering and frankly childish BS. One group basically wanting to control things and have their own little club. 

The volunteer rule is another. I used to RO and rack up other volunteer hours. I had way more volunteer hours than I spent shooting. And you don’t need any RSO training. Just need to sit through the range control brief, and you get your card.

Too bad because there are some decent shooting opportunities. After the group I used to shoot with got shut down by the cronies, I lost interest. Still keep in touch with a couple of guys that shoot up there.  Even they are like “not worth it anymore”.

joined in 2012. Rifle shooters are more along the lines of tactical, Walking Dead survivor types.

I was a member a long time ago and RSO'd.  A couple years ago I wanted to coordinate gun rights stuff with them for HIFICO but they said their bylaws said they couldn't get involved with legislation.  Then later I found out they had a legislation liaison that reported on some legislation and I'm like that's odd, I thought they couldn't do that.  I wrote to them again and never heard back from them.  They don't seem to want to be a team player.

I am the TSA Director for Schofield Rod and Gun Club. I'm sorry for your frustration regarding the club and I understand how you feel. We currently have a new president and Vice president, and I took over the skeet range SR5 in June of last year. If your still wanting to come out, I can address all your issues regarding RSO and access to volunteer. Its relatively easy and 12 hours is like 2 visits as an RSO which applies as you are a retiree. PM me and we can go from there if you wish. It really is a great club with awesome individuals, and a great place to shoot. I encourage you to go the website www.SRGCHI.org and look at the calendars. This lets you know when the ranges are open.
