I like the suggestions some of you have made.

I teach a safety class at diamond head/koko head on the weekends, so a class would be possible.  I'm wondering if it would be too big of  a leap for an anti-gunner to handle.  Also it would take up a lot of their time.  On the plus side, they would know that we are safe in handling our firearms and get more involved.

As far as a range day, I'm thinking of a few scenarios but getting the anti gunners out is going to be a problem:

1.  Public Range Day - bring a group of legislatures out on a weekend.
+  Meet other shooters
+  Easier to coordinate -do everything at once, easier to get volunteers, and ranges are already open
+ Legislators may feel better in a group
+ May be able to get gun stores/clubs to help provide resources
-  Ranges are busy
- Anti-gunners may not want to be seen in public/media with a gun

2.  Private Range Day - Conduct when ranges are normally closed (weekday/holiday)
+  Easy to coordinate - do everything at once
+  Anti-gunners may feel more secure not being publicy seen
+  Ranges are not busy
+ May be able to get gun stores/clubs to help provide resources
-  Not sure if range can be open on a non-public day, also need range staff
- Legislators not able to meet other shooters

3.  Individual Range Day - Legislators are invited by a citizen in their district to go to the range individually.
+  Easy to coordinate, citizen plans everything.
+ Ranges already open, no range requests needed.
+  Anti-gunners may feel secure by not drawing attention to themselves
+  More personalized attention
+  Legislator gets to meet other shooters
- Need to find a citizen from each district
- May not be able to get gun stores/clubs to help provide resources

As mentioned earlier, LIFE has a standing policy that all legislators can take our regular class for free. And, a handful have taken us up on that.

That being said, if someone wants to organize it, I will offer the services of LIFE instructors, range time, ammo, etc. to facilitate such an event. You contact the legislators, arrange a time (provided to me with enough advanced notice to make the necessary arrangements...) and essentially LIFE will give them a class. In the alternative, just invite them to any of our regularly scheduled classes and we'll accommodate them.

Is it a good idea to add them to the HRA mailing list, unsolicited I mean?

Do you think it would be a good idea for all our legislators to be mailed a copy of the HRA newsletters so they can see the regular activities that go on with the community?
I think, therefore I am armed.

To comply with anti-spam laws, you'd have to set up an "Opt out" ability with unsolicited e-mail....Additional costs would be incurred to mail out the newsletters.....an expense and time commitment that HRA cannot accommodate currently.  But, if they ask for it, I'll make sure it gets sent to them....

it might be good to have another politician to set it up.   I wouldn't solicit it.   I'd recommend taking up an offering and provide the weapons and ammo free to them.     If any of you ever dealt with a anti gun person and you convinced them to come out and shoot,  it really changes their minds.    But be prepared some of them may not want to admit it because of political reasons.

We already have a few legislators who provide our message offering the free classes to their peers.....and as I said, it's free...we provide the firearms, ammo, and venue.
