It's déjà vu all over again!
It's like the same writers worked on both the movie
Speed and the series
24, or at least the first season.

I'll see your pair of Jacks and raise you a villain:Speed - Dennis Hopper as Howard Payne (bomber):
Payne takes Jack's partner, Harry, hostage. Jack shoots Harry in the leg which was decided during a discussion they had earlier.
24 - Dennis Hopper as Victor Drazen (Serbian war criminal):
Jack takes the daughter of Drazen's friend hostage to try and escape from being held hostage himself. Drazen (Hopper) shoots the daughter in the head.
The fact that Dennis Hopper was in both "shoot the hostage" scenes made me smile.
