Public Defenders in Massachusetts have staged a walk-out.

Right now, over a hundred cases have been summarily dismissed in one county, because a defense attorney has not been assigned for over 45 days as required by law.

There's no Public Defender's union, so negotiating is a cluster.  The lawyers are asking for what amounts to over a 50% raise.

The reasonable man adapts himself to the world;
the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself.
Therefore, all progress depends on the unreasonable man.
