Friends of the NRA Banquet in Kona 2025
« on: October 27, 2025, 10:52:12 PM »
I attended the Kona Friends of the NRA banquet last weekend, my first one since COVID and currently the only banquet held in the State since then.  It was at Jackie Reys restaurant with a sold-out crowd.  I attended with my friends Jason and Alison Wolford to spread the word about their upcoming SCOTUS challenge next year.  Senator Lynn Decoite from Maui was also there.  She's the Senator who defeated the AWB bill earlier this year and it was good to see her fly over to meet with 2A supporters.  And a surprise visit from James Grell who was the plaintiff for our knife and CCW lawsuits a few years ago.  Good food, good times, and good people there.  The fundraiser supports local high school rifle teams, range improvements and planning, and firearm safety programs.

I was the big winner of the night and won a 1978 Colt Python revolver, gun safe, knife, and case of green tip ammo.  Mr Gingo donated the revolver from his personal collection.  It's beautiful and has a buttery smooth action.  It's in mint condition and possibly unfired.  The case of ammo was donated by Kona Guns.  I'm not able to bring the ammo home, so I sold it to someone and am donating the $500 to the Wolford SCOTUS fund.

Thanks to Mr Gingo and volunteers for putting this banquet together.  We may restart the Oahu one if we can find enough volunteers to plan and run it.
