Ammo Price Increase
« on: March 13, 2026, 07:58:53 AM »
The owners of VISTA outdoors has announced an AMMO PRICE INCREASE effective 4/1/2026.  This is due to the fact of the price of raw materials etc etc etc.  i have noticed some of my “mainland” sources have already increased their prices by about $20.00 a case for 9mm (the brands and grain i like).

The upcoming gun show should have good pricing since they would have purchased “BULK”.

Aloha!

I really enjoy target shooting, so I'm glad I stocked up on reloading stuff during the Obama years.

I've seen more indications of ammo price increases and this video goes over it more.  Tarrifs on copper, focus on artillery, limitations on nitrocelulose for gun powder.  On the bright side, smaller manufacturers of primers are popping up now.  I'm taking a gun class next month on the mainland, they're only charging $97 for 500rnds of 9mm.  Wish I could take more back home.

Listened to the Reload about tariff issues.  Magtech, a large ammo manufacturer, produces ammunition in Brazil which was hit with 40% tariffs so you don't see their ammo or advertisements anymore.  The tarrifs were struck down, but there's uncertainty if they'll come back so importers aren't bringing in ammunition.

In addition for Magtech, they were building an ammo plant in the US which would produce everything in house.  A year ago, their ammo manufacturing equipment was enroute from Brazil when it got hit with the 40% tarrifs during shipment and the equipment was returned to Brazil.
