Sale of Hawaii registered firearms out of state.
« on: January 27, 2013, 02:40:56 AM »
Need help answering a few questions.  If I travel to Az with a few firearms with the intent to sell.  Do I have to let the state of Hawaii know in any form?  I would be carrying these firearms with me on the plane so FFL will not be involved.  Keep in mind the transfer of weapons in AZ is a total private affair and no state laws are involved maybe only a bill of sale to satisfy both parties.

TIA

My best guess is just tell hpd you sold them out of state.... However I believe that federal law requires for you to be a resident of Arizona in order to sell them.... with the exception of military.... But Arizona state law might conflict with federal law as Arizona's gun laws in some cases nullify federal law so I don't know..... good luck

ps if I were you I would just sell them in Arizona and tell hpd

I am both military and a state drivers license holder of Arizona.  Thanks for the reply.

I've wondered as well, though I haven't read anything in HRS 134 that addresses the question.

Are you PCS'n or just taking them TDY and intend on selling? IMHO a re-look at Federal laws maybe more applicable, that and whatever Arizona requires:

I am PCS'ing back in.  the firearms never left Hawaii, as I have been stationed in Korea for the past 3 years.  As for the question, it was more for situational awareness.  I don't intend on selling any firearms at the moment.

Just remember those guns are always registered to you. Even if you tell hpd.  You are responsible to keep records of who you sold it to.
