I tried to research thru google who are local Sheriff's are on each island and if they answer to a particular chain of command and if they have the same options as some mainland county sheriffs have with regard to gun law enforcement. Most if not all Sheriff's on the mainland have higher authority than even the Federal Government with regard to law enforcement in their jurisdiction.  This may be an angle if our reps in the state do the wrong thing and pass unconstitional gun legislation.  Does anyone know what the chain of command is and are they beholden to higher authorities unlike all Sheriffs on the mainland?  Are any of the LEO's members of the Oathkeepers?  Pray we find friends in high places if this goes bad.

Sheriffs Dept here is run by the State department of public safety.  The top sheriff is appointed, not elected.

we don't have  a sheriff per say.    we have a department of safety and they hire deputies.  I forget which congressman oversees it,  Saiki maybe?     there is a hawaii sheriffs association.  they might have more information.

Maybe at this point we need to reach out to those appointed and get a feeling for their thouhts on this touchy subject to get a feeling for where they stand with regard to the Oathkeepers.  If anyone here has any close ties please do some outreach.  We have a duty to ourselves, our community, our children and Republic to prevent this unconstitional power grab.  LEO's unfortunatly.. Are going to be thrust into this even if they support us or not.

my guess, if i had to make one, would be, that it is in line with the police chief and law makers here.  if not, they wouldnt be in office for long. just my uneducated guess.  maybe on the lower ranks they are on our side, but heads, yeah, why bite the hand that feeds you

Thanks Colt808.   thanks for the clarification.  I remember reading about Shawn Tsuha recently, some article about the sheriffs deputies issuing traffic tickets and he told deputies to disregard.
