forgot to mention we got there at 130p  saw BigKahuna & Tom playing with thier Mosins

Guy next to me and dirsh was shooting a 338 Lapua I think with a shake everyone brake on the end!

Dude, if you can't tell the difference between a 1917 and a Moisin, you need to get your eyes checked ;)

Seriously, that .338 was something.  I was packing it up as he was getting started, but from 3 benches away, the blast was impressive!  Seriously, you want to impress someone, shoot a cannon like that WITHOUT a brake  :)

Not me.  Anything in the .30-06/7.62x54r/8mm Mauser range is plenty for my shoulder!  And I'm not embarrassed to admit that the recoil pad Moose had on his Moisin was a wonderful idea.  One like that may become part of my regular M2 ball protocol!

Was a disaster, put on a new scope on at home in a rush.  forgot to retighten it after the first few shots.  shooting all over the place.....not realizing till later the scope mount vibrated loose like they always do on these guns!

Dammit!

Went to the pistol side lugging 50 pounds of pistols....only to find out I forgot the PPQ.  shot a few rounds then went back to the rifle side....

forgot to mention we got there at 130p  saw BigKahuna & Tom playing with thier Mosins

Guy next to me and dirsh was shooting a 338 Lapua I think with a shake everyone brake on the end!

I was curious to hear how the red dot on the PPQ worked out....

I was going to shoot without the red dot first.

First, I want to thank BigK and Tom for a really fun time at the range.  And I also want to thank my new Mosin for being such a great gun!!  :worship:

I bought this on Gunbroker, and I was really worried about getting a lemon.  After cleaning and firing it, I definitely got my money's worth!!

It was listed by the seller as a Tula Hex 1938, but I was suspicious since Tula Arsenal stopped producing Hex receivers in 1936.  I double checked the mark on the front as well as the date on the tang beneath the receiver, and it is absolutely a 1936!

Shoots high, and according to BigK and online comments, that is common for Mosins.  Once I got the hang of it, I was pretty good at 50 yds, and could hit the steel at 220 yds several times (Tom is my witness!!).

All in all, a really fun day at the range!!

My new precious:

When only cops have guns, it's called a "police state".
