It's DA on every shot.
Not everyone can handle a DAO semi auto.
Lot depends on How Colt has worked the DA "pull"
Is it 2 stage like Smith & Wesson or single stage like their Pythons?
And then how good are you with DAO shooting.
DA shooting a revolver or semi auto is becoming a lost art.
Takes a Lot of rounds down range to get good And fast with it.
My first pistol was a S&W 629 revolver in .44 Mag, so DA is not an issue.. I shoot DA just fine. I have read that the trigger pull is about 12lbs. I have read that it is single stage and the gun has no sights, only a sight channel in the slide. At defensive ranges, target indexing would be fine for me and is what I practice at ranges that allow you to shoot at those distances.
I have a SIG226 and the first shot is DA. I like the DA trigger on the SIG. Full size SIG is wife's gun of choice, but I think if she was to get her hands on one of these, she would be sold. She doesn't dig the complexity and practice of drawing, placing off safe, and firing a 1911 when she would need it. I have also seen this gun will be offered in 9mm and .40 eventually. She is a one stop shopper and the SIG gives her that...its just harder to conceal in a purse or on the person, especially true on a woman.
I was mainly thinking about this pistol because we are leaving Hawaii late next year and i like to carry a full sized pistol, but can see the occasion that I would want or need a slim framed compact pistol, but do not want to give up the round that I have chosen during the summers of Georgia. I have a Colt Commander, but I could always use another carry gun. I understand the argument of power vs round quantity. If that choice is to be made, i will just carry my Glock22 in .40.
Georgia is an OC state and I will probably choose this method most of the time, but there will be the cases where concealment is required to keep the sheeples tame.
IMHO, 1911s are perfect for carry in condition 1, just trying to think a little outside the box and maybe hone some DA skills while I am at it without having to carry a wheel gun (I love me some wheel guns by the way).
