Hexmags

Any opinions of hexmags for durability and reliability?   Since the body design is so different from magpuls, I thought it would be good for 300 BLK ammo only and not to get mixed up with  5.56/.223.  I know the cheaper solution is to mark the caliber on the mag body with white paint, but since I believe in Murphy, I feel that a different color mag, different design (hex instead of ribs) and white paint should prevent mixing up calibers in a mag.
Available locally?  Primary Arms just started selling these but always try to get around paying shipping.

not enough experience with hexmag to comment, but maybe consider the translucent smoke lancer awm. it definitely has a different feel and base plate design than pmags, plus you can visually see the rounds that are in there.
theres also the hk and elite tactical translucent mags but i found them both to be kind of flimsy compared to the smoke lancer. there is also a completely clear lancer but that polymer is also flimsy.

i only have 1 hk and 1 lancer smoke for testing but i do have a new spare ETS mag if you want to give that a go. $14 or trade for gen3 windowed pmag, used pmag ok.

Or just use FDE P-mags for 300 blackout.

P-mags work well.

When in doubt, go for what you know.

Thanks for the offer but I only have original pmags (no window).  The lancers sound interesting and have steel feed lips.
Probably try the hexmag at P.A. but hate to pay > $12 shipping for a few mags.  Available in OD and FDE.  They also have Lancer in a FDE color.

King thanks for your input.  Guess another option to spray paint black pmags OD or FDE also.

Talk to Dexter at X-ring. I know a while back, they dyed FDE P-mags, red, blue and pink.

Another option, maybe...

Magpul Gen 3 Sand Color PMags Can Be Dyed.  They Have Vids on YouTube And They Seem to Use "Rit" Brand Dye. It Appears to be Easy?

Hope This Helps?  :D

Mahalo about the dying info guys.  Video makes it look easy.  I only got the older black pmags and G.I., so I might be stuck with spray painting with Rustmate camo paint.
I might also be able to get a small stencil with 300 BLK and spray paint that also.

Looking at comments from other forums, some guys just use a certain brand like Lancer vs. pmag, or a different color or some just use 20's for 300 BLK and standard for .223/5.56.
I will get some lancers later since they have reinforced feed lips and are translucent and have a different feel than pmags.
G.I. and pmags for .223/5.56 and hexmags /Lancers for 300 BLK.
