Spanish is the way to go. Aside from Hawaii, when was the last time you ran into someone speaking Japanese?
I grew up in California, I've been to ALOT of states and Spanish speakers are always heard. Hate to admit it, but Spanish is the most useful language ( aside from English) in the U.S. 
If you want a cool, easy language to learn, maybe German?

My weapon resolution is to buy only one pistol in 2014. The rest of my mad money will be to modify my existing guns;upgraded sights, triggers, etc. The wife liked the idea, but has no clue what she has agreed to ....insert evil laugh here
