And out of all that carnage, the governments with the highest body count go those that were established as following the principles of Marxism-Leninism. Over 100 million butchered in the 20th century in the name of communism. Even the Nazis didn't reach the numbers of the communists in China, Russia, etc..

Makes you wonder how our current President - who has verifiable and documented history of being friendly with communists - seems to get a pass. Can you imagine a white President that had contacts with neo-Nazis? Do you think the mainstream media would ignore that?

The progressive socialists will tell you that the principle is sound and pure. Those "mistakes" of the past [ that's how they see it] were due to the distortion of the ideology in the interest of gaining and abusing power. The fact that the ideology itself promotes abuse of power, because it must in order to suppress individual thought, is something they can't seem to reconcile themselves to.

My personal opinion is that this thread ought to be moved back to General for greater visibility and bumped once in a while.

After all, as Chairman Mao said, all political power comes from the muzzle of  a gun, so I believe all this democide talk is inherently related to guns and therefore is on-topic for General.

Chairman Mao also said, and note this well:
