Can I get a witness
« on: April 30, 2011, 04:30:35 PM »
So I mounted the Ultimak rail on my Saiga AK and I'm going to try and get a cowitness with a red dot sight.

I know everyone says that the Aimpoint Micro is the only way to go in order to get a co-witness with an AK but I want to try and see if any other red dots that don't cost 500 bucks will allow the co witness that I want.

I decided to try the Burris Fastfire II.

For comparison, I took some pics next to a Sig red dot.

I mounted the Fastfire and with a little adjustment it is a perfect co-witness.

Tomorrow I'll take it to the range and test the accuracy.

AK 47 Co-Witness part 2

I tried the Burris FastFire on the AK 47 with the Ultimak Gas tube rail.

For comparison I also mounted the Bushnell TRS25.

To my amazement, it actually sits lower than the Fastfire.
The TRS25 also has 11 different brightness settings.
The Fastfire has only an on/off switch but it self adjusts according to ambient light levels.
Here's some pictures of the TRS25 co-witness on the Ultimak rail. Notice how it actually sits lower than the FF2.

The last picture is of a metal spinner that was shot with a round from the AK.
It is the Golden Bear FMJ 123 grain.

It cut through the metal spinner like a hot knife through butter.
