Hmmmm too many choices. It is going to take a few outings to see how well it actually shoots. I am still working up different handloads for it as well. So I am going to wait to see how it shoots before I make my final decision.

Hi matt0137, which wood stain did you use to refinish your MN?
I think, therefore I am armed.

I used minwax red sodona. It's a nice rich color and I'm happy with it. The lighting isn't great in the picture, but hopefully you can see it. Two coats of stain and several coats of tru oil. Didn't want it too shiny, so I think I only put 4 or 5 coats of tru oil.

Nice work, matt0137. Looks great!  I think I'll try the same on mine.

Thanks. Just take the time to get all the cosmoline out of the wood. I tried several techniques, but just letting it sit in the sun and using a hair dryer on the stubborn parts worked the best. I used a chemical stripper first. I sanded it, but not too much. I wanted it cleaned up, but wasn't trying to make it look like brand new, so I got it smoother but still left some of the character. Good luck and post some pics when you're done.
