getting Bulk ammo in Vegas
« on: January 23, 2015, 05:32:16 PM »
what is the best way to get bulk ammo in Vegas ( 556.....x39.....9mm)
planning to shoot at clark county shooting complex and the guy i'm going with does not know the local shops.

looking at ammunitiontogo.com and bulk ammo.com

is ordering online the best option, or is there a local shop that regularly stocks the basic calibers in bulk?

Both of these companies have retail stores in Vegas and sell bulk ammo.

Someday someone may kill you with your own gun, but they should have to beat you to death with it because it is empty.

Bass pro caps you on the amount you can purchase. Lucky we found 8 boxes of 9mm to buy but everywhere was sold out back in June... Lot of guns stores in Vegas, call around and see if you can buy in bulk over the phone.  Some local shooters buy in bulk and have it shipped in to vegas. At least that's what they told us....

Go to the Monday night steel challenge run by Pete At Clark county... Really good fun but call ahead just to double check its not cancelled...

Walmart had some cheap ammo and were pretty well stocked last week.  9mm aluminum was $9.99 a box.  Forgot what the other prices were.

My sister lives in Las Vegas so I order ammo from Palmetto State Armory or LAX ammo and have it shipped to her house before I head to Vegas.

You can try Walmart - when their russian steel ammo is in stock it is usually the cheapest ammo you can get locally.

Or try Sportsman's Warehouse off of Ann Road, they have a large selection and usually have what you need in stock. They are not the cheapest but during the Election scare they did not raise their ammo or firearms prices to gouge customers. This store is actually on the way to the range is its convenient if you don't have any ammo or forgot to bring something.

The Clark county range actually sells ammo too, not the best pricing but not outrageously expensive too. They also sell Targets(probably over 15 to choose from) ear and eye pro for cheap.

Last - Stay away from Bass Pro, nice store but prices suck and ammo selection is not that great. Usually go there to check out the aquariums with my son and usually leave without buying anything. If I had to choose between Sportsman's Warehouse or Bass Pro, definitely Sportsman's  :shaka:

Sportsman's Warehouse off I-95 had Federal 62gr, 420 cans for $200 (about 2 weeks ago anyway). Believe they also had 7.62x39 as well but cheep 9mm was pretty skosh.   Also check out The Peacemaker Firearms on Decatur (closer to I-215). They stock 5.56, 7.62x39, 9mm, 5.45x39, etc. for decent, non-tourist prices.

Worst case you can always buy a little ammo at CCSP if you end up a few rounds short.

Some hotels will accept ammo shipments.  The ones in Pahrump do for Front Sight students.  Check with your hotel.  I'm guessing most of the Casinos on the Strip and Freemont Street might not do it.  Could try it at the smaller hotels.

2 miles out of city limits you can shoot as far as you like. Just place your target and drive 1 mile away and shoot at it....

If you have a skeet or trap gun they have like 15 areas, insanely huge and they have a night shoot just not sure what day it was on. When u drive up to the pistol area all the way in the back u will see how large that place is.... Best part is the  stadium lights...

PS is it windy they close the range sometimes because of the dust storm....

The night shoots are pretty cool, 100% concur on those lights!

Winter night shooting goes until 2200, Wednesday nights. Summer time is 2200 as well but Wednesdays & Thursdays I believe...

Have fun on your trip!  :shaka:
