« on: September 07, 2015, 12:53:52 PM »
So, since I just bought a s***load of mixed once fired pistol brass (9mm & 38 spl), I was wondering how many of us sort pistol brass?

Checked out Oldfart's post from a couple of years ago regarding the difference POI of Fed & Win brass. https://2ahawaii.com/index.php?topic=7656.msg78712#msg78712  Please post if you had/noticed any similar experiences.   :shaka:

wc, i use the brass sorter from amazon
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00BFN5TTI/?tag=2ahawaii-20
expensive, but the best purchase we ever made for reloading in terms of time saved and bang for the buck

i am the official hdf brass sorter, and am available for rent for a reasonable fee

I sort by manufacturer since I'm not a bulk reloader.   Plus while you inspecting the case, you also see the headstamp.

If you had a choice called "maybe" that's what I would pick.

For the 9mm, I usually sort by headstamp unless I know it's close range blasting ammo. (1 to 15 yds)
For close range blasting, it don't matter.
If I'm going to do a shooting match with the possibility of winning prizes, then I definitely sort brass.
Then i drop each round into a chamber gauge to insure successful chambering.
As previously noted, that funky anomaly with the shifting point of jmpact is enough to miss an A zone shot at 25 yds.

For the 45acp, it's a little different. I almost never sort 45 brass unless entering a prize match.
The 45acp is quite forgiving for most practice loads out to 25 yds.

For 223, I try to sort as much as possible.
Anything bigger, I definitely sort.
What, Me Worry?
