I got one of these 8" diameter x 1/2" thick from here, AR 500 Targets http://2ahawaii.com/index.php?topic=18121 Now I am trying to figure how to hang it and what to hang it from. There is this thread here, steel target frame http://2ahawaii.com/index.php?topic=18252 with lots of good ideas on what to hang it from I like stangzilla's stand a lot. I have also seen the one that DL speaks of it looks promising. I would like to use a wooden saw horse I just only know if it can handle. The main criteria for a stand for me are 1) does it fit in my car 2) sturdy and stable 3) ease of operation.

Seems to make since to me and I have purchased the appropriate hardware to hang mine in this configuration. I will post pics as soon as I finish painting my target and install my hardware. I have seen most folks just hang their targets so that they are 90 deg. to the ground and relatively  perpendicular to the shooter. What say you 2aHI with regards to having the target hang at slightly forward angle? Does anyone already hang their steel in this manner?

I use wood and a threaded rod before just need to make sure the threaded bar is long  enough so that you place the legs far enough so that the splatter don't eat up the wood. I'd choose a spot with two set of stand holes next to each other and put one leg in the far left one and the other in the left hole of the set next to it  leaving a open spot in between. I use two hex nuts to secure each leg and tow strap to mount the plates. Last 100 times longer than chain. Plates will hang wit a slight angel as is.

we had some discussion of metal targets at the GTG on friday
one thing that was mentioned was that you can use paracord to tie the target
rounds go right through the strands, only burning/melting the fiber a bit
credit to kenace and speed for this idea

This was my first setup that I still use since someone shot the cross bar of my other setup. You can see att the damage on the legs that's why I widened the second one.

Dust off and Talula,
Awesome info, angle, tow strap or fire hose works great. Tested set up with 300,  338, 375 & 416 mags. The strap spins and holds up well to unfortunate hits unlike chain.
Like any target will break but this set up works great!
