Im trying to buy a pistol from a private seller online. he says that he usually uses UPS red label for pistol sales to the cont48 but he said he hasnt shipped to hawaii before and thinks it will be prohibitively expensive. i told him my ffl zip and hes going to check tomorrow. i really want the pistol though as its 3/4 of the way done how i want it customized.

what shipping options do you guys use to buy private pistol purchases abroad? please include your average shipping price you paid and what carrier and service options you chose. thanks guys :shaka:

Should be able to do UPS 2 day air. Price will depend on location and insurance.

I sent my Glock to California, 2nd day air and insured, around $57.

thanks shane.

im thinking about having it sent direct from him to a gunshop on the mainland first. Its a g20 and i was going to get a frame reduction and add a beavertail anyway.
now the question is, is that legal to do? send it go a gunshop for framework then have them ship it to my ffl?

Is the shop doing the customizing an FFL?  If so, then no problem!

You may have to pay both FFL fees from his end and yours.  It depends on whether the seller was going to include FFL fees on his end, or if he's actually an FFL himself which would have cost him nothing for FFL.

One thing.  How will you handle inspection?  Contact the custom gun shop and ask if they can check for damage for you.  Otherwise, once the customization starts, you own it.
