So I wanted to ensure that I had a bench at the rifle range today.

I woke up at 5:30am and hit the road at 5:50am.

I got to the range at about 6:20 and there was already maybe ten people sitting on benches.

I set up my gongs and now here I sit for the next two hours waiting for the range to open.

hey I was there today too  Left side this time.  I should have walked down to check you guys out.  I was there at 0730 and a good 3/4 of the benches were taken already......crazy.......please make a range at Barbers....

After the rifle side I went over to shoot handguns..... after 8+ months of ZERO trigger time its official.  I can't shoot handguns for sh^t anymore.  From the looks of my target (and stand for that matter) you would think I looked like this 

I need to shoot more often.....

I actually met myanmar about a month ago when my friend rained brass on him with his 9mm Hi-point carbine.

Gong update...

Ok so I unloaded about 300 rounds of 7.62x39 ammo and about 200 rounds of 22lr into all the gongs I put up.

They held up perfectly.

The only issues I had were that

1) one of the U bolt screws worked themselves loose a couple of times (due to having to grind off some of the threads in order to make it fit on a 5/8" plate when it was only 1/2" wide)
Lesson learned: get the right size.

And
2) My friend that came with me shot two holes in the 12" gong frame. (it did nothing to impede the strength or integrity of the frame)

All in all project gong was a glowing success.

nice, what distance did you put it at?  Did shooters from other benches shoot it too?    is there a rule against that anyway?  I would assume on the silhoutte side, if you put out a steel target, it's fair game.  I once put a .22 swinger steel target on the berm past 100 on the rifle side, and another guy was shooting my swinger.  wasn't pissed, but he musta been doing it on purpose cuz it was hit multiple times.

No one else shot my target. It is against the rules.
