This is all pretty entertaining. If we were invaded, firearms registration records would be the least of our worries. The idea that an invading force will track you down that way is just FUD used in movies for dramatic effect. But since this is a hypothetical, I'm pretty sure things would fall in line with what Q said. It won't be about who has guns, but who is willing to take them up and become a threat.

In reality, Hawaii has never been a target for invasion and the likelihood of it in the modern age of warfare is nonexistent. Our location being of strategic value ended with the age of sail and the only natural resources we have is fresh water and a little agriculture. Just think of the logistical requirements for an invasion then occupation and you'll see it's never going to happen.

Even if Russia might not want to occupy the islands, they might see value in ensuring the USA doesn't occupy the islands. An occupation might not meant to be forever either, just temporarily for the purposes of a war.

First of all, that article is incorrect as there is no such thing as "Hawaiian separatists".  Hawaii is illegally occupied by the US based on both US and International Law.  Secondly, you ask, "would the restored Hawaiian Nation welcome China's military?"  The correct answer is a resounding yes, but not because of politics; but because of Hawaii Kingdom Law which declared to the International community that Hawaii was a neutral State similar to Switzerland.  Consequently, all navies around the World would be welcomed in Hawaii's ports as long as they pay their port fees and leave when their stay is over.

So..... You're saying that the "Hawaiian Nation" would do the same thing that led to the supposed "occupation" by the U.S. and hope for a different outcome?

That goes a long way towards explaining why so many people here vote "D" despite the idiocy we see in our state government.

You need to reread the history what led to the illegal take-over by the United States.  The illegal takeover was instigated primarily by greedy American-Born Hawaiian nationals who conspired with expansionist leaning officials within the US Government at the time.

For another take-over to happen again in Hawaii by say Russia or China would require similar ethnic Russian or Chinese-Born Hawaiian nationals within Hawaii to do the same.

Uhh, right. Because there aren't any "Russian or Chinese born Hawaiian Nationals" here now? Because Russia and China don't have "expansionist" policies?

Please read up on current events regarding Crimea and the Spratly islands.

The jury as to the sovereignty of Spratly Islands is still up for contention as it is currently being claimed by many nations, not just China.  As for Crimea, the people of that country held a referendum to cede from Ukraine and asked to join the Russian Federation.  Russia did not invade and take Crimea by force.

Let's put this to rest with one simple question for Kuleana, so we can get  :stopjack:

Kuleana: have you renounced your American citizenship yet? Being that the occupation of Hawaii is illegal in your eyes, that must also mean your American citizenship is illegal as well. So have you renounced your American citizenship and embraced your Hawaii National citizenship yet? If not, why?

I will gladly pay for you to free yourself from the unbearable chains of bondage that the US has put on you; let me know when you are ready if you haven't done so already.

OK,  :stopjack:

WTF... didn't this discussion already happen in another thread?!?

Yup.

Hawaiian kingdom advocates always seem to find ways to infiltrate a discussion to promote their bullshit ideas about imaginary kingdoms and how their magical unicorn government still exists, yet get awfully quiet when you ask if they have renounced their citizenship, or what they would do if someone would be willing to pay for the entire trip to have them renounce their citizenship.

Wanting to and having the ability to do so are important factors to any scenario. As I said in the previous post, both Russia and China are regional powers. Anyone with a knowledge of what that means and basic military history would understand. Neither nation will take invasive actions outside (or near to) their contiguous areas. If you think it'd be to start a war? Well, they can easily start a war with actions closer to home, think: Kuril Islands/Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, etc....REGIONAL.

I'm sure none of this is going to satisfy your "but why?", "how come?", or "what if?" line of thinking, so lets just go back to: "HPD plan for gun registration list if Hawaii ever invaded?". No plan. None needed. Not going to happen. List is not relevant.

Barring a world war or something similarly disruptive, the most likely "invader" would be some kind of world government police entity like the UN.

Under the guise of "legitimacy" and how our state seem to support feel-good big-government type officials, HPD might be ordered to share / willingly share the list over in exchange for some funding in the spirit of kumbaya and cooperation.

Isn't this already happening at the federal level?  Not much more of a jump for this to happen in a global level.  Plus it would happen without any bloodshed.
I think, therefore I am armed.
