THIS is how you protest!!

Facebook post from Alex's wife:

Quote
Today Alex went to the DMV to renew his license. When he was told to go have his picture taken he noticed
that there were some men having their picture taken, these men were wearing turbins on there heads.

Alex was asked to take his hat off to have his picture taken. He said “no”, and “no” again when asked the second
time. When he was asked why he would not remove his hat he said, “those men didn’t remove their head wear, I
shouldn’t either”.

It was explained that this was their attire and their religion. Alex told the DMV person that what he had on was his
attire and when he entered the Marines he declared an oath to the USA, and one nation under God, so that his
oath was under God so just as good as his religion.

Well, the DMV people didn’t know what to do, they spoke to supervisors and called Sacramento. Alex was told,
after an hour, that he could wear his hat for the picture and if there were any problems they would let him know
and he could appeal their decision. He told them if there was a problem he WILL appeal it.

Alex feels no one has more right to display their head gear then a Veteran or active service person. When he left
several employees at the DMV clapped quietly for him.

While I believe it is importAnt to have hats off in the photos, freedoms must be consistent.

When the state (or Feds) make exceptions, the laws are no longer enforceable for everyone else.

Private establishment, they can do what they want. their face isnt covered. Or is their some law banning headware in banks? I certainly wouldn't cover my face though to go into a bank.

most banks or credit unions have signage asking you to remove hats and sun/dark eye glasses

About 8 years ago, the FBI started recommending the signage: "No Hats, No Hoodies, No Sunglasses, and No Cell Phones".  They also recommended tellers call law enforcement if they spot someone in line wearing these items.  Local LE has not been as accepting of that, wishing to not risk having multiple false alarms daily.

The FBI wanted to have someone in Congress sponsor a bill to make their suggested "dress code" law, but I can't find anything at the federal level.

Most banks train their tellers to look for other signals if they see someone wearing potential disguises.  They normally request the not-suspicious customers remove their glasses and hats as they approach the window for identification purposes.

Nothing wrong walking around with a turban on your head.
I get many looks but the way at Costco and  Post Offices  :D

Turbans are not hats and  are not subject to removal except in Jail or Prison.

I never take my cap off of my head. They ask, I refuse. They get pissy. I get pissy. They refer me to the posted sign. I refer to the FDIC Posted signage. I educate that they are insured, I also inform them that I will be happy to take my account elsewhere. This is both FCU and private banking. If they are stubborn I throw in the "don't let the terrorists win."

I noticed lately they have backed off on this BS. Probably too much complaints.

I agree 100% with the fact that once you take the oath upon entering military service it is forever. Whatever branch, active, inactive reserve. Guard or reservist. Retired or one enlistment.
