Interview segment featuring reporters Katie Pavlich and Emily Miller discussing Washington, D.C. gun laws, in particular the CCW licensing laws. The D.C. gun laws are most similar to Hawaii's of any other state, i.e. irrational and intentional restrictive infringements (full registration, mag limits, virtual no-issue "shall issue" CCW, etc.). Miller is one of only 50 people (and the only woman) in the District to have been granted a CCW license during the past several years since the "no issue" policy was struck down in court. D.C. instituted several versions of likely unconstitutional laws that are currently being challenged (by SAF and Alan Gura). The D.C. law, similar to Hawaii's, requires a "good reason" to be issued a license, and "self defense" is not a "good reason", in fact, you have to have documentation that there is an "ongoing serious threat" to your life, OR that you carry large amounts of cash or valuable property. And even in the event of a documented "current ongoing threat" they won't process your application for 90 days. And it costs $700. Miller revealed that she's been "unofficially" told that she has the only license not granted for the cash/property "good reason". She also asserts that not only do all the criminals in D.C. illegally carry illegal (unregistered, etc.) guns, but a large number of otherwise law-abiding citizens illegally carry guns for self-defense.
