Oh, and don't forget you will need to get a permit to acquire before you can even pick up your ice pick.  That's in addition to your safety affidavit (to make sure you know how to handle your ice pick safely) and your mental competency test to make sure you don't have any thoughts of hurting yourself or others with your ice pick.

News says he used a knife and victim that died was his estranged wife.  She had a TRO on him.  Shows how effective a piece of paper is in keeping a predator away.

There is currently a bill in Virginia that would automatically grant a CCW license upon issuance of a TRO. Just sayin'...

Edit: Checking on that Virginia bill I see it passed both houses of the legislature and was then vetoed by governor McAuliffe last week.

I got a good idea guys. Everytime there is some senseless death in our state we should take a moment to respectfully send it to our lawmakers and ask what words can they write on pieces of paper that can forever end that type of senseless death. Im talking deaths from all types of cancer, heart disease, texting and driving, drunken driving, excessive vehicle speed deaths etc......... Smh

The idea is pretty good, but in the real world I don't believe most women would go through the trouble and expense of obtaining and training to use a firearm for self defense. It also takes too long to go through the process.
However, whenever a TRO is granted, I don't see why the courts couldn't pass out an information sheet with a coupon for a can of pepper spray. I'm sure the local gun shops would be glad to participate in such a program. That would provide a fairly quick, easy, non-lethal solution to a real problem.
