Anyone use www.meetup.com?  It's a website where people can find groups of other people to do activities with like hiking and gaming.  Just learned about it from a friend last week and I think it would be a great place to bring new members into the 2a community.  My idea is to get the attention of casual and non-shooters to introduce and mentor them into the shooting sports in a non-intimidating way.  This could be college students, womens groups, youth groups, singles, businessmen, etc looking for something new to do.  It would start with get togethers for introductions, shooting events, sponsored shooting events (like shooting sports fair), classes, and competitions.  This could be an independent group, fall under an existing organization(HRA, HDF, 2aHI), or infiltrate other groups to setup events.

Seeking comments and suggestions, and if anyone uses MeetUp .  I'm hoping this can bring in new shooters, keep them involved, and use them for our political activities.

Hey that's a great idea!  I did a quick search on "range" "guns" and "shooting" and nothing came up.  But there are a lot of "love empowerment - sex and body positivity" "Social justice warrior" "angry hairy lesbians" type groups on there... it might be nice to have a presence in an otherwise untapped market.   

It says it's free to join groups and be a member, but whoever is the group "organizer" has to pay a fee.  $9.99 a month. 

Meetup was made in 2002, never heard of it until now.  Not sure how active it is but guess I'll create a site..."Let's go Shooting" sounds inviting and innocent enough.  Fees aren't too bad, ask for donations when there's an event.  I'll structure it so I have a few knowledgeable volunteers, and provide people a path from not knowing anything, have some free or low cost shoots with 22lr, give them info on training classes, practices, and get into competitions with various clubs.

I'll also look into using eventbrite to list events.
