Friend's home got burglarized and they stole an iPad...
« on: June 14, 2016, 11:59:07 AM »
then a selfie of a youth holding a wad of cash was uploaded to his son's iCloud account approximately 5 hours after the burglary happened.
No geotags of the photo was found. I scraped it for other metadata.
Does iCloud maintain info of the router's IP where the photo was uploaded? The burglar took over $5k of cash, jewelry and electronics.
Any suggestions to track this crumb down?

Put a picture up on stolen stuff Hawaii on Facebook.  Someone will recognize the punk and he'll get caught and most likely released.

Maybe he'll learn a lesson, maybe not.

At least report it to Apple.  They can flag it so it can't join any of Apple's services, and maybe get an IP for you if the thief tries joining it to services like iTunes.

Hopefully this story ends with one of those "stupidest criminals" type deals where they post pics of themselves that end up being used against them.

Put it on hawaii news and have them do one of those search things.  Seems to find those criminals real quick every time.
